    There is currently great interest in developing mucosal vaccines against a variety of microbial pathogens. Mucosally induced tolerance also seems to be a promising form of immunomodulation for treating certain autoimmune diseases and allergies. Here we review the properties of the mucosal immune system and discuss advances in the development of mucosal vaccines for protection against infections and for treatment of various inflammatory disorders.

    Well, that was quite a read. It looks like some studies need to be made of whether cats develop antibodies via the gut mucosa. Then on to whether people can do that, and under what circumstances. The problem with trying it in people is that, other than duck blood pudding, they don't tend to eat raw poultry much, particularly, the 'variety parts'(*shuts eyes tightly, hums*) that the scavengers eat. But I don't think cooking poultry will give the same effect. Now to fund it, and try it...
