Abstract
The devastating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in March 2020 and now at over 9 months since its declaration it continues to claim vast numbers of lives all over the world. There is no evidence that pregnant women are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection than the general population, however, pregnancy-associated immunological changes could potentially render pregnant individuals more vulnerable to severe COVID-19.
