This is a short series of screens covering all the basics of 'Bird Flu' by the London Science Museum. While it is a fairly basic introduction it is very clear, accurate and as good a basic primer as I have seen. http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/ante...nflu/index.asp

yes, we need summaries/surveys at different levels of brevity.
Depending on how much time you are willing to spend.
Start with the short ones (most of us regulars are beyond that, I assume) and then increase...I'm interested in expert panflu damage estimates

gsgs: I had not seen the 'Transmission Bible' before but it is an excellent directory of key data with commentary. Very useful reference it is just a shame it has not been kept updated. Now if someone had the time ....

Re: Good basic introduction to H5N1
Good basic information. You would be surprised how informative this would be to a good portion of the population. A very big percentage do not realize how close we are to a pandemic. I have never lived during one ...... so I am sure a lot of people will assume it will not happen with the advance of medicine today, lapse of time since last pandemic, etc .

Re: Good basic introduction to H5N1
I have just had another look at the link I pasted in the opening post and they have updated it with an excellent section on current anti-viral & vaccine research, which even regulars on this site will appreciate.
P.S. In honour of the up coming firing of the LHC they also have a feature on it and a 'spot the Higgs game'. Interestingly the LHC is not to be ramped up but used at full energy from day one so once the analysis is performed on the initial runs' decay characteristics we could have very quick result after the long wait of construction.
