Bird flu outbreaks reported in southern Vietnam

The A/H5N1 bird flu outbreak has been detected in Vietnam's southern Tra Vinh province, Vietnam News Agency reported on Monday.
The provincial Department of Livestock and Animal Health confirmed that poultry of two households in the province's Cau Ke district were tested positive for A/H5N1, with some 1,000 culled.
The department then instructed local households to disinfect twice a day in a week in an attempt to prevent the spread of the outbreak...

Hanoi and four provinces in Vietnam now observe avian flu outbreaks as of Sunday, forcing over 55,000 poultry to be culled.
The three latest outbreaks were detected in the northern central Thanh Hoa Province and the southern Tra Vinh Province, said Nguyen Van Long, deputy head of the Animal Health Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Around 2,670 poultry have either died or been culled across these areas as a result, Long said...
