    Can Tho city reels from dengue outbreak

    Can Tho (VNS/VNA) - The Department of Health of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho said there have been 213 cases of dengue fever in the city this year and 60 hotspots.

    Eighty eight percent of the victims were people aged under 15 years, according to the department.

    Thach Minh Duc, deputy head of the dengue fever division at the Can Tho Children?s Hospital, said: ?The hospital received 200 patients this month. The disease is expected to spread further.?

    The downtown area is among the worst affected, with Ninh Kieu district accounting for 25 cases and O Mon for 32, he said.

    The department said the southern region is severely affected in the rainy season. There have been four deaths in the country in the first six months out of 20,552 cases...

    Russia?s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) on Wednesday said over 21,000 people have been infected with the Dengue fever since the beginning of 2018.

    The Russian health watchdog added that four people have died from the disease.

    ?Since the beginning of the year, 21,500 cases of the Dengue fever have been registered in Vietnam.

    ?During the first six months of 2018 four cases of the disease in Vietnam resulted in deaths,?? the statement said...

      Ho Chi Minh City records first death to dengue fever in 2018

      HCM City (VNA) ? Ho Chi Minh City reported a year-on-year decrease of 36 percent in the number of dengue fever cases in the first seven months of 2018, however recently recording its first death caused by the disease this year.

      Doctor Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of the municipal Preventative Medicine Centre, revealed the information on July 30.

      He cited the centre?s statistics as saying that between 350 and 450 people are hospitalised due to dengue fever each week...

        Dengue fever cases on the rise in Hanoi
        Hanoi reported 41 more dengue fever cases over the past week, according to the municipal Department of Health.

        The capital also saw 25 more cases of measles, 58 cases of foot-and-mouth, three cases of whooping cough and one fatality caused by pig streptococcus in Minh Chau Commune, Ba V? District.

        So far this year, Hanoi has recorded 348 cases of dengue fever, 315 cases of measles, more than 1,200 cases of foot-and-mouth, 51 cases of whooping cough and 11 cases of pig streptococcus...

          Da Nang steps up measures against dengue fever

          Da Nang (VNA) ? Residents in the central city of Da Nang should intensify measures against dengue fever as the rainy season has started, encouraging mosquito populations to grow, said a local doctor.

          Doctor Nguyen Tam Lam from the municipal Preventive Health Centre said 1,447 cases of dengue had been recorded in the city so far this year, down more than 65 percent over the same period last year.

          However, from August 6-12, Da Nang reported 88 cases, 12 cases more than the previous week, mostly in Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe and Hai Chau districts, according to the doctor...

              Peak season of dengue appears in Mekong delta

              There were 45,600 cases of dengue nationwide in eight months and the disease killed 9 people, three of them are from the Mekong delta provinces of Ca Mau, An Giang and Tra Vinh, reported the health sector yesterday.

              Most of them had serious complications such as shock, liver damage and gastrointestinal tract bleeding when they were hospitalized.
              Though the Mekong delta city of Can Tho has had no death from September 14, it reported 615 infections. Can Tho suffered 140 cases in July and 143 case in August, a year-on-year increase of 19 cases...
