    Dengue fever spreads to 38 localities in Vietnam, killing 3

    Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus, has affected over 5,200 patients so far this year in 38 provinces and cities in Vietnam and killed three of them, according to the Ministry of Health.

    The deaths were recorded in the southern provinces of Dong Nai and Long An, the ministry?s Preventive Health Department said.

    Compared to the same period last year, the number of patients increased by 27 percent and the death toll rose by two instances.

    In February alone, 3,640 people were infected with dengue fever, the department said, adding that the disease is spreading mainly in the southern region.

    Over 20,000 Vietnamese people catch dengue fever

    ...Since 2015, the country has more than 20,000 cases of dengue fever infections. South and Central provinces including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau are hot spots of the disease...

      HCMC has 5,000 dengue fever infection cases

      The Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday said that dengue fever was complicatedly widespread with increase in infection cases.

      In June, 519 people were hospitalized, an increase of 20 percent compared to May when 433 infection cases were recorded. Accordingly, the city has total 5,025 dengue fever cases since the beginning of the year, a surge of 39 percent compared to same period last year...

        Dengue fever claims two lives in Binh Duong

        BINH DUONG (VNS) ? Two of the dengue fever patients in the southern Binh Duong Province died, the provincial Department of Preventive Medicine Centre said yesterday.

        According to the centre, there have been more than 1,100 dengue fever cases in the southern Binh Duong Province since the beginning of this year.

        In Thu Dau Mot City itself, more than 230 people were infected by the disease, and one of them died at the end of last month in Phu Cuong Ward, Vietnam News Agency reported.

        The second dengue death was in Di An Town's Dong Hoa District...

          Four die of dengue fever in South East Vietnam

          The development of dengue fever is very complicated in the South East region of Vietnam with four deaths.

          In the southern province of Dong Nai, dengue fever has occurred in most of localities. According to the province?s Center of Preventive Medicine, the province has had around fresh infection cases everyday.

          It is estimated that communes and districts had around 3,000 infection cases in the first 8 months , increasing of 120 percent compared to the same period last year...

            A leading children hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has been crowded with dengue fever patients as the number of infections across the country has increased 2.5 times from last year's summer.
            Nguyen Minh Tuan, head of the dengue fever faculty at the Children?s Hospital No.1, said more than 25,000 cases have been reported nationwide, including 16 deaths.

            Tuan said six children patients have died at his hospital, four of them transferred from other provinces.
            They were between one and 15 years old, who were admitted late or suffering from another health conditions, he said.

              Dengue fever infections nationwide hit 40,000 in the first nine months, with 25 deaths, as the outbreak has not showed any sign of winding down.
              The number of patients at the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital in Hanoi increased from 188 in August to more than 300 in September.
              Nearly 80 of them are staying for treatment and every two or three of them have to share a bed.
              Hanoi is among the dengue fever hot spots this year, together with Dong Nai and Binh Duong Provinces in southern Vietnam.
              Ho Chi Minh City had the highest number of infections, with nearly 10,000 cases during the first nine months, up 66 percent from the same period last year and including four deaths...

                Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus, spread throughout Vietnam, affecting 43,000 people and killing 28 in the first nine months of the year, health authorities reported.

                The Preventive Health Department under the Ministry of Health released the figures on the sidelines of an online conference on dengue held at the headquarters of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday.

                The epidemic has spread to 53 out of the country?s 63 provinces and cities, said Dr. Tran Dac Phu, head of the department...

                  Ha Noi reports fall in dengue fever cases

                  HA NOI (VNS) ? The number of dengue fever cases in Ha Noi has fallen by half over the past three weeks, compared with the previous month.

                  This development raised the possibility of the disease being controlled by the end of this year, an official of Ha Noi's health department said.

                  Nguyen Duc Hanh, deputy director of the health department, said the adoption of drastic measures to prevent the spread of the disease led to the fall in dengue fever cases.

                  The city has recorded 10,447 cases of dengue fever since the beginning of this year, he said. No fatalities have been reported so far...

                    As of 31 October 2015, there were 58,633 cases of dengue, including 42 deaths, reported in 52 out of 63 provinces in Viet Nam. The number of cases reported in 2015 is higher than cases reported in 2014, for the same reporting period. However, the cumulative number of cases is less than the median in 2010-2014, for the same reporting period (Figure 7). In October, there were 18,754 cases reported including 10 deaths. Compared to September (12,771 cases and 12 deaths), the number of cases reported increased by 46.8%.
