  • Ozaukee Co. child dies from influenza

OZAUKEE COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Ozaukee County Public Health Department has announced their first pediatric death from influenza.

They have not released any further information related to the death. On New Year's Day, a 12-year-old Milwaukee County girl died of complications related to the flu.

On average, the state sees two child deaths each year related to the flu. The flu is a contagious viral infection which mostly affects the respiratory system; nose, throat and lungs. Symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, boy aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people may also experience vomiting and diarrhea.
