Influenza Update
Twenty nine lab-confirmed influenza deaths have been reported for the 2015-2016 season to date, including one
pediatric death.
During week 10, 519 specimens were tested by the World Health Organization/National Respiratory and Enteric
Virus Surveillance System (WHO/NREVSS) collaborating laboratories in Washington, with 111 specimens positive
for influenza. Fifty five specimens were positive for influenza B, 43 were positive for influenza A (H1N1), 12 were
positive for influenza A (subtyping not performed), and one was positive for influenza A (H3N2).
During week 10, the proportion of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) was 1.1 percent, at the baseline of
1.1 percent.
Influenza is characterized as regional in Washington.
