    Week 44, ending Nov 2, 2013

    Virginia Influenza Activity Level: Local

    From the graph, age group 0-4 years has the highest percent of visits for ILI, with the 5-18 age group having the second highest percent.

    Over the last 10 weeks, Flu A (2009 H1N1) has been predominant, with Flu B in week 38.

    Specimens testing positive: 50% 2009 H1N1, 50% H3

        Virginia Influenza Activity Level: Local

        Activity level for weeks 47 & 48 is the same as last year for Virginia

        ILI visits for age groups 5-18 and 19-24 years trended upward this week;
        the other groups are mostly level.

          Virginia Influenza Activity Level: Local

          Activity level has remained at that level for the last 3 weeks. Last year, activity had increased to regional in week 49.

          All positives this week were Influenza A.

            Virginia Influenza Activity Level: Regional

            Percent of ILI visits by age groups:
            0-4 (near 7%) and 5-18 (4%) both trended upward this week.
            The other age groups remained below 2%

            Positive specimens from all sources: 100% Flu A, with ~9% of that being H3.

              Virginia Influenza Activity Level: Widespread

              Percent of ILI Visits by Age:
              0-4 continues to trend upward; now at 8%
              5-18 continues to trend upward: now at just under 5%
              All other groups are still at or below 2%

              All flu positives for the week are either A/unknown or 2009 H1N1

                ILI Activity Level: Widespread (same level as last year) and up in all 5 regions

                Percent of ILI Visits by Age:
                0-4: almost 10%
                5-18: almost 6%
                19-24: near 3%
                25-49: near 3%
                5-64: 2%
                65+: 1%

                  Wk 04, ending Jan 25

                  0 pediatric deaths were reported in wk 04;
                  1 was reported by the CDC in wk 03.

                  Since wk 51, all positives have either been flu/A unknown or 2009 H1N1.
