    No positives were detected this week, although A(H3) was detected in week 42.

Influenza spreads from person to person when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Unlike the common cold, the flu can cause serious illness and can be life-threatening. Each year over 36,000 people in the U.S. die from complications of the flu.
