    Though they say those numbers are not out of line with past years, health officials are still urging Utahns to get vaccinated, wash their hands and avoid going to work when infected.

    More than 400 people have been hospitalized with seven reported deaths as Utah?s 2017-2018 flu season gained momentum in recent weeks.

    Three people died in Salt Lake County due to flu-related issues last week, with the other two deaths coming earlier in the flu season, which generally runs from October to May. Most were at least 65 years old, according to Salt Lake County Health Department data.

    The two deaths in Wayne County, meanwhile, involved an elderly couple who had been visiting the area, said Sarah Bagley, a Central Utah Health Department spokeswoman.

      SALT LAKE CITY ? Sixteen people have died from the flu this season in Utah's most populous county, health officials said Friday.

      Each of the fatal cases involved adults ages 18 and older, according to the most recent Salt Lake County Health Department figures available, from Oct 1. through Feb. 3.
