Re: Utah 2013-14 Flu Season Wks 43-02

                      Wk 02, ending Jan 11

                      Influenza Hospitalizations:
                      Current wk: 49
                      Cumulative: 478

Comparing previous weeks gives a good pic of how hospitalizations have increased. Notice that weekly numbers don't add up to the cumulative numbers (due to time lags?).
                      Wk 50: 23, 108
                      Wk 51: 45, 168
                      Wk 52: 49, 237
                      Wk 01: 62, 369
                      Wk 02: 49, 478

                      Influenza Hospitalizations by Age Group:
Age, total cases, % of cases, rate per 100,000 population
                      0-4: 60, 12.6%, 22.58
                      5-24: 43, 9.0%, 4.49
                      25-49: 155, 32.4%, 16.24
                      50-64: 127, 26.6%, 30.67
                      65+: 93, 19.5%, 35.41
                      Total: 478, 100%, 16.74

The P&I deaths were below the seasonal baseline in wk 52, a very small amount above it in wk 01 and above the epidemic baseline in wk 02.
