    17th flu-related death confirmed in Dallas County, health officials say
    To date, 16 adults and 1 pediatric patient have died from the illness during the 2019-2020 season.

    Third adult dies flu-related death in Travis County

    AUSTIN, Texas — There have now been three influenza-associated deaths reported in Travis County this flu season, according to Austin Public Health.

    The only details on the deceased are that all three were adults. The official flu season began on Sep. 29, 2019.

    Dallas County Reports 16th Flu-Related Death Of Season

    DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas County Health and Human Services reported the 16th flu-related death in Dallas County for the 2019-2020 season on Friday evening.

    The patient was 62 years old with underlying medical conditions and lived in Dallas.

    In addition to the 16 confirmed flu-related deaths, here are two possible influenza-associated pediatric deaths that are pending the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office determination of cause of death.

    Texas Single Father Of Child With Special Needs Dies Of Flu Complications

    NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Charlie Ewalt's family said the single father died of complications from the flu on Sunday night.

    He got the A strain of the flu in mid-January. On Jan. 16, his brother, Tim Ewalt, found Charlie incoherent in bed and called 911. Charlie was taken to Medical City North Richland Hills, but later was transported to the Plano location for more intensive care.

    The family said it was one thing after another. The flu led to pneumonia, then Charlie sustained lung and brain damage. He was taken off life support after more than two weeks.

    The first death was reported for a 16-year-old resident of HSR 2/3 with underlying conditions. The child tested influenza B positive by PCR and was vaccinated for the current season.
    The second death was reported for a 10-year-old resident of HSR 2/3 with no underlying conditions. The child tested influenza B positive by PCR and it is unknown if they were vaccinated for the current season.

    Flu still hitting Central Texas, Travis County sees second death
    Monday Austin Public Health tweeted that another person died in Travis County after catching the flu. This makes two deaths.
