National pharmaceutical researchers have reported high flu activity in Texas, including the Longview-Tyler area, but local health authorities say they're seeing evidence to the contrary.
... "I think it's a lot milder than it was last year. That's what we've heard and seen," county Health Department Administrative Assistant Fred Killingsworth said. "Our flu right now, we really haven't seen or heard it."
City Environmental Health Manager Buck Farrar echoed Killingsworth.
"It's been nonexistent, pretty much," Farrar said...

Yet a very different report from doctors in Dallas:
Dallas County doctors concerned at number of vaccinated people getting ill enough to seek treatment for flu

2015?2016 Season Texas Influenza Surveillance Report
                              MMWR Week 9 (Feb. 28, 2016 ? Mar. 5, 2016)
                              Report produced on 3/11/2016
                              Summary
Influenza activity remains elevated across the state.Compared to the previous week, the percentage of specimens positive for influenza slightly increased and the percentage of patient visits due to influenza-like illness (ILI) marginally decreased. It is too early to tell if influenza activity has peaked for the season. One ILI/influenza-associated outbreak and no influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported. In addition to flu, other respiratory viruses were detected in Texas during week 9.
