    The latest flu report from Dallas County Health and Human Services drives home the need to get a flu shot, if you haven?t already.

    ? Three adult deaths from the flu have been confirmed and two additional deaths are pending confirmation as flu-related.
    ? Twenty-four people were hospitalized in intensive care in the past two weeks with flu symptoms....

    MARSHALL, TX (KSLA) -

    An East Texas teenager has been admitted to Texas children's hospital in Dallas following complications with the flu.

    According to a close family member, 14-year-old Jennings Neel of Marshall felt bad the day after Christmas and went to the doctor, where she tested positive for the flu. She was sent home with medications, but deteriorated quickly by the following morning...

    The number of people testing positive for the flu more than tripled in Dallas County the past few weeks sparking new calls from health officials for inoculations...

    ...the latest Dallas County flu report
    now includes the death of a resident in October from flu related illness.

    For the week of Nov. 16, the report includes 19 people testing positive for the flu. By Nov. 30 the number rose to 67 positive cases...

    "We got calls from 24 parents that their children were throwing up overnight and three teachers were sick,? said school director Mary Ann Green. ?And it was scattered throughout the school."

    ?It's just out there in the community,? Greene said. ?Pediatricians are reporting it. Someone had been to an emergency room and said everyone there was vomiting. It's out there and we just wanted to see if we could stop it from going any further.?

    Zachary Thompson, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, reported Monday the county?s first flu death this season ? in an adult.

    ?That?s why we?ve been pushing everybody to get a flu shot early,? said Thompson.
