NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A Lawrenceburg mother died on Wednesday after a week-long bout with a suspected case of H1N1, swine flu, virus.

Mitizi Ratliff Littrell, 33, died at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville after being diagnosed with double pneumonia. State medical doctors are running tests to determine if Littrell died from the H1N1 virus.

Littrell was a teaching assistant in a computer lab at Ingram Sowell Elementary School in Lawrenceburg.

She first became ill with flu-like symptoms last week. Doctors first believed her illness was the result of a sinus-related problem, but she was hospitalized Friday after passing out.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hospital officials confirmed Thursday it was not the H1N1 influenza that killed a Lawrenceburg teaching assistant.

Mitzi Littrell, who worked at Ingram Sowell Elementary, died after a week-long battle with a flu-like illness on Wednesday.

Health officials had suspected the H1N1 virus. Many parents chose to keep their children home from school on Thursday as a safety precaution.

Administrators said Littrell was a committed and talented employee. They said she also had children who attend the school.

Her cause of death is unknown at this time.
