The Rhode Island Department of Health said Monday that two people died of the flu in January.
A man in his 50s died Jan. 1, and a man in his 80s died Jan. 25. Health officials said both men had underlying medical conditions.
Health Director Dr. Michael Fine said the flu season can stretch to April in Rhode Island and he urged anyone over 6 months old who hasn't had a flu shot to get one.
