Ohio Hospitalizations the highest of those reported in the U.S.
California does not report total hospitalizations related to flu, but of those states that do report, including New York, Ohio has had the most through Week 2, at 5,673, over 400 higher than New York (5,267). Fatalities typically trail hospitalizations by a couple of weeks and based on states that report both hospitalizations and all deaths associated with flu, deaths typically amount to between 3% and 6% of hospitalizations.
Based on comparison with the prior five-year average, Ohio could see record influenza deaths this season.
