ND Has Second Flu Death
11/18/2009
North Dakota has been hit with it`s second flu death this season. And while the North Dakota Department of Health says it can`t confirm that the older woman died of H1N1, it says it isn`t unlikely.
The woman, a resident of the northwestern portion of the state, was over the age of 60 and had underlying health conditions.
Influenza Surveillance Coordinator Michelle Feist says the flu victim tested positive for influenza A, meaning she could have been carrying seasonal flu or H1N1, but because more than 90 percent of flu cases in the state are currently H1N1 she very well could have had that strain.
The first flu victim of the season died in October. He was also from the northwest part of the state, over the age of 60, and had underlying medical conditions.
