* Influenza activity in North Carolina remains low.
* The geographic spread of flu was NO ACTIVITY for week ending 10/26/13.
* Of the eight samples submitted to the State Laboratory of Public Health (SLPH) for viral testing during the past week, zero tested positive for influenza.
* Hospital-based Public Health
Epidemiologists (PHEs) reported three positive influenza results during week 43 (ending 10/26/13). One A (H1N1) and two A (not subtyped).
Regional Updates
* Influenza like illness remained below baseline in Region 4 (Southeastern US) during week ending 10/26/13.
* The proportion of visits due to ILI in region 4 was 1.1% for week 42 ending 10/19/13. The baseline for the region is 1.9%.
National Updates
* The proportion of outpatient visits due to ILI nationally was 1.2% for week 42 (ending 10/19/13). The national baseline for ILI is 2.0%.
* There have been a total of 19 human infections with H3N2v, no new were reported during week 43, among residents of five states so far in 2013. These infections have mostly been associated with prolonged exposure to pigs at agricultural fairs.
