Swine Flu Blamed for Niagara County Death
WNED News (2009-11-12)
BUFFALO (wned) - Health officials in Niagara County say a "middle-aged" man died earlier this week, apparently from the swine flu.
If confirmed by lab tests, it would be the first adult death from H1N1 in Niagara County.
County officials say federal health privacy laws prevent them from releasing the man's name, age, residence or date of death. They do say the victim lived in eastern Niagara County and had underlying health conditions that made him vulnerable to the swine flu virus.
Nationwide, government health officials say swine flu has sickened about 22 million Americans since April. They say about 4,000 have died, including 540 children.
