    Week 40:
    NYC
     Influenza season began on October 2, 2011.
     Influenza activity in NYC is minimal.
     Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.3% of all weekly visits, which is below the Mid-Atlantic and national baselines.
     There were seven positive influenza specimens reported for the Week; four for flu A and three for flu B. About 6% of specimens tested were positive for RSV.

    There were no nosocomial respiratory outbreaks reported in NYC during Week 40.

    NYC
     Influenza activity in NYC currently is minimal.
     Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.5% of all weekly visits, which is below both the Mid-Atlantic and national baselines.
     There were two positive influenza specimens reported during this week; one for flu A and one for flu B. About 5% of specimens tested were positive for RSV

    There were no nosocomial respiratory outbreaks reported in long-term care facilities in NYC during Week 41.

      NYC
       Influenza surveillance activities for the 2011-2012 influenza season began on October 2, 2011. Influenza activity in NYC currently is minimal.
       Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.5% of all weekly visits, which is below both the Mid-Atlantic and national baselines.
       There were two positive influenza A specimens reported during the week. In addition, 8% of specimens tested were positive for RSV.

      There were no nosocomial respiratory outbreaks reported in long-term care facilities in NYC during Week 42.

      There were no pediatric influenza-associated deaths reported in NYC during Week 42.

        NYC
         Influenza activity in NYC currently is minimal.
         Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.8% of all weekly visits, which is below both the Mid-Atlantic
        and national baselines.
         There were three positive influenza A specimens reported during the week. In addition, 12% of
        specimens tested were positive for RSV.

        There was one nosocomial upper respiratory outbreak reported from a long-term care facility in NYC during Week 44. Laboratory testing was negative for influenza; the outbreak resolved within a week with nine residents experiencing cough. There have been no reported influenza outbreaks to date.


        NYS
        The overall level of flu activity is currently low and appears to be stable when compared to last week.
        The number of people hospitalized with flu is currently 10 and appears to be stable when compared to last week.
        There were no pediatric influenza-associated deaths in NYS (including NYC) reported this week.
        There have been no pediatric influenza-associated deaths in NYS (including NYC) this season.

              * Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.9&#37; of all weekly visits, which is below both the Mid-Atlantic and national baselines.
              * Less than 1% of all specimens submitted for influenza testing were positive for influenza, of which three specimens were positive for Flu A and one specimen was positive for Flu B. In addition, 15% of specimens tested were positive for RSV. All Influenza A specimens subtyped to date at the Public Health Laboratory have been identified as H3.
              There were no nosocomial respiratory outbreaks reported from long-term care facilities in NYC during Week 46.

              NYC: Week 47
              Influenza activity in NYC currently is minimal.
              * Influenza-like-illness visits are at 2.2% of all weekly visits, which is below both the Mid-Atlantic
              and national baselines.
              * Less than 1% of all specimens submitted for influenza testing were positive for influenza, of
              which seven specimens were positive for Flu A and one specimen was positive for Flu B. In
              addition, 23% of specimens tested were positive for RSV.
              There were no nosocomial respiratory outbreaks reported from long-term care facilities in NYC during
              Week 47.

              The overall level of flu activity is currently low and appears to be stable when compared to last week.
              Hospitalizations for flu are stable when compared to last week.

In addition, 28% of specimens tested were positive for RSV. Influenza A specimens subtyped within the last two weeks at the Public Health Laboratory were identified as 2009 H1N1.

                            * Influenza activity in NYC currently is low.
                            * Influenza-like-illness visits are at 1.7&#37; of all weekly visits, which is below the Mid-Atlantic and national baselines.
                            * Approximately 1.2% of all specimens submitted for influenza testing were positive for influenza, of which seven specimens were positive for Flu A and 13 specimens were positive for Flu B. In addition, 22% of specimens tested were positive for RSV. Influenza A specimens subtyped within the last several weeks at the Public Health Laboratory were identified as both H3N2 and 2009 H1N1.

                            There was one nonsocomial respiratory outbreak reported from a long-term care facility in Queens in Week 2. Testing for influenza was negative.
                            No deaths have been reported

                              There were no reported nosocomial respiratory outbreaks from long-term care facilities during Week 4.
