A North Jersey toddler has died with the flu as a contributing factor, the state Health Department said Tuesday, calling it the second pediatric flu death this season. Last year five children died during flu season.
The North Jersey child died earlier this month, but the state didn?t confirm until Friday that influenza played a role in the death, the Health Department said in a statement. The child?s name, age and hometown were not released.

The flu has claimed another young New Jersey life, marking the third pediatric flu death this season, officials announced in a statement.
The child, described only as a North Jersey infant, died in late January and ?had several underlying conditions,? state health officials said. Officials noted that the child was ?not able to be vaccinated for medical reasons.?
The Health Department said it would not be releasing any additional information on the child.

A toddler from North Jersey died from flu complications earlier this month, the state Health Department said in a statement, marking the fourth child in the state to die from flu-related causes.
In 2018, five children died during the flu season.
The toddler who died also had "several underlying medical conditions," the state Health Department said in a statement Tuesday. No other information has been provided about the toddler.
