    More than a dozen deaths and 536 illnesses in Nebraska during the 2009 flu season were attributed to H1N1 flu, according to a state report released Thursday.

    H1N1, also called swine flu, raised fears of a global pandemic when it emerged last year.

    In Nebraska, 13 people died between Aug. 30 and May 1, which is considered flu season, according to a report from the state Department of Health and Human Services. The department also attributed two other deaths last summer to H1N1, but they happened prior to the season's start.
