A 9-year-old Billings girl died after being diagnosed with swine flu, county health officials learned Monday.

The child?s cause of death is still unclear ? an advisory sent out by RiverStone cites ?complications,? and says that testing to determine the cause is underway. It?s unclear if the child was hospitalized prior to her death.

Public health officials said on Friday that there have been two more influenza-related deaths in Yellowstone County, bringing the total in the past week and for the season to three.

John Felton, president and CEO of RiverStone Health, said that since Monday an adult and a child have died. The county's first flu-related death of the season happened on Monday when a 9-year-old Billings girl and Poly Drive Elementary student died from the H1N1 strain of the flu.
