Week 3:
For week 02 (01/10/10- 01/16/10), the overall state ILI rate (4.2%) decreased from last week (5.5%) and was lower than this time last year (7.5%)
There have been a total of 21 reported flu deaths (flu types include any flu case not confirmed as H1N1 swine flu) since August 29th, 12 that were confirmed H1N1 (14 total since May).
The predominant flu type identified continues to be novel H1N1 (swine) flu.

Since August 29th, there have been a total of 23 reported flu deaths, 12 that were confirmed H1N1. The two most recent flu deaths both occurred in DeSoto County in late January.
For week 04 (01/24/10- 01/30/10), the overall state ILI rate (5.0% was comparable to last week(4.8%), but was lower than this time last year (8.8%).

2 additional deaths were reported. One prior to Aug30 and one new making a total of 27, as of March 1. (The most recent flu death occurred in Grenada County in mid-February.)
During week 08, two districts (3 and 8) had a decrease in ILI activity, three districts (2, 5, and 7) had an
increase, and four remained about the same (1, 4, 6, and 9). District 1 had been experiencing increased
ILI activity for the last three weeks, while District 6 ILI rate had been on an increase for the past two
weeks, but both leveled off from weeks 07 to 08. District 8 had also been experiencing increased ILI
activity for the last three weeks, but decreased dramatically from weeks 07 to 08. However, all of these

Swine Flu Cases: 757 Confirmed cases since August 29, 2009
During week 11, six districts (2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9) had a decrease in ILI activity, two districts (1 & 3) had an increase, and one remained about the same (7).
Percent Positive 5.6% (decrease from last week of 6.6%)

During week 13, three districts (3, 8, and 9) had a decrease in ILI activity, four districts (2, 4, 6, and 7) had a slight to moderate increase, and two remained about the same (1 and 5). Since August 29th, there have been a total of 27 reported flu deaths, 14 that were confirmed H1N1. The most recent reported flu death occurred in Lincoln County in mid-March.

During week 14, three districts (2, 3, and 7) had a decrease in ILI activity, two districts (6 and 8) had a slight to moderate increase, and four remained about the same (1, 4, 5, and 9).

Week 16: Sporadic
ILI: 3.3%. The 2009-10 state ILI rate was below baseline for week 16 and has been below baseline for the past six months. During week 16, two districts (6 and 8) had a decrease in ILI activity, one district (2) had an increase, and six remained about the same (1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9).
