BATTLE CREEK -- It appears the contagion has peaked in Calhoun County. There will be no school closed because of the virus today. But in the wake of the disease we are learning of a local death. Health officials will only say he was a 53 year old man from Hillsdale County, with underlying health conditions who died about a week ago at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.
As in most of these cases, its impossible to blame the virus specifically for the death, because of those other life threatening problems.
The 3rd West Michigander to die from this latest wave of the Swine Flu in west Michigan was a 54 year old Ottawa County woman from Holland with underlying conditions who died back on October 20th at Holland Hospital.
A Kent County woman and a Kalamazoo residency have now also died during this most recent escalation of the pandemic with the virus in their systems.
