Re: Louisiana 2010-2011 Season: Weeks 40-52 (Widespread)
Hat tip Missouriwatcher
Week 52 ( from 12/26/2010-1/1/2011)
- Big jump in doctors' visits from week 51 to 52, about 4% , now approching 10%
- Considerably higher than the National Data Summary where the proportion for outpatients visits for ILI was 2.6%.
-Hospitalisations, about 1% increase, now at 6%.
If you look at the National Lab Data, 65.9% is Influenza A,
34.1% Influenza B.
As mentioned by Missouriwatcher, Louisiana has 80% Influenza B
From The National Data Summary, there was one influenza-associated pediatric death reported with an Influenza B virus infection."Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."

Re: Louisiana 2010-2011 Season: Weeks 40-1 (Widespread)
Week 1: Widespread
Influenza activity continues to increase in physician's offices but slightly decreased in hospitals in Louisiana. The number of positive samples reported from sentinel sites also continues to increase and Influenza B remains the predominant strain; 64% of all positives reported are type B.
ILI highest in Regions 6 & 7
