Local Woman Dies From The Flu; Family Members Speak Out

In an era when we think most illnesses can be cured, we still lose loved ones to cancer, heart disease and even the flu. Despite an easy prevention, the virus can be fatal.
"They said if she'd had the flu shot, she would have had the antibodies to fight it," said Nancy Ehrsam, who loss her grand daughter to the flu.
Nancy Ehrsham's 32-year-old grand daughter, Nicki had been battling what she thought was a cold and a bad migraine for about a week.
"On Thursday we talked to her and she said, well I'll get better. On Friday, we realized it wasn't getting better. So we took her up to Genesis East," said Ehrsam.
Doctor's there were stumped. After seeing three doctors, she was taken by ambulance to a facility in Iowa City. They told her she had the flu...
