Re: HAWAII (Weeks 33-34)
Weeks 33-34:
Outpatient ILI reported during weeks 33 and 34 were comparable to the historical baseline in Hawai?i.
P&I deaths: 10.0%
There have been no influenza-associated pediatric deaths in Hawaii since week 21, 2010.
Since week 21, a total of 51 (2.8%) cases of influenza A, and 5 (0.3%) cases of influenza B were detected using any method. Of the influenza A cases detected, 1 (2.0%) was 2009 H1N1, and 26(51.0%) were influenza A(H3); the remaining (N = 24, 47.1%) were influenza A of unknown subtype. Persons 5-24 years were most likely to test positive when influenza was suspected (31% positive influenza cases versus 18% of specimens tested). Persons <1 year old were least likely to be positive for influenza and likely to have other etiologies for their respiratory illness.
