    During week 46 there was minimal influenza activity in Georgia with
    sporadic occurrences of sustained flu transmission.

     Outpatient Illness Surveillance (ILINet): The proportion of outpatient
    visits for ILI was 1.39%, which is below the Georgia baseline of 1.6%.
     Geographic Spread of Influenza: The geographic spread of influenza in
    Georgia was SPORADIC during week 46.
     Metro Area Hospitalizations: There was 1 hospitalization due to influenza
    infection during week 46. There have been 16 hospitalizations due to influenza
    infection so far this season.
     Influenza Related Deaths: There were 0 confirmed deaths due to influenza.
    There have been 0 confirmed influenza-associated deaths as of 11/30/2015.
     Viral Surveillance: Of the 183 specimens tested by Georgia clinical laboratories
    reporting to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance
    System (NREVSS) during week 46, 7 (3.83%) were positive for influenza. Zero
    specimens were tested for influenza by the Georgia Public Health Laboratory
    (GPHL) during week 46.
     Reported Influenza Outbreaks: There were 0 influenza-related outbreaks
    reported to public health during week 46.
     RSV Viral Surveillance: Of the 103 specimens tested and reported by the
    Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) and the National Respiratory and Enteric
    Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) collaborating laboratories during week 46, the
    percent positive of ALL laboratory tests was 26.21%.

     Metro Area Hospitalizations: There were 0 hospitalizations due to influenza
    infection during week 48. There have been 18 hospitalizations due to
    influenza infection so far this season.
     Influenza Related Deaths: There were 0 confirmed deaths due to influenza.
    There have been 0 confirmed influenza-associated deaths as of 12/11/2015.
     Viral Surveillance: Of the 628 specimens tested by Georgia clinical laboratories
    reporting to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance
    System (NREVSS) during week 48, 3 (0.48%) were positive for influenza.
    Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) did not report any influenza testing
    during week 48.
     Reported Influenza Outbreaks: There were 0 influenza-related outbreaks
    reported to public health during week 48.
     RSV Viral Surveillance: Of the 412 specimens tested and reported by the
    Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) and the National Respiratory and Enteric
    Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) collaborating laboratories during week 48, the
    percent positive of ALL laboratory tests was 28.64%.

           Influenza Related Deaths: There was 1 confirmed death due to influenza.

           Viral Surveillance: Of the 445 specimens tested by Georgia clinical laboratories

                      Mild flu season still packing a punch in Georgia

                      Hospitals across the state are seeing an uptick in flu cases, and public health officials say the illness has now become widespread in Georgia.
                      Yet compared with past flu seasons, this one appears relatively mild. And it?s spiking much later than those of previous years.
                      ...
                      Nydam said that at this point last year, there had been 1,223 flu-related hospitalizations in metro Atlanta. There have been 256 this year.
                      And at this time last year, Public Health had reported 27 flu-related deaths statewide. This year the death toll is five, with two coming during the week of March 6.

                             Metro Area Hospitalizations: There were 17 hospitalizations due to influenza
                            infection during week 13. There have been 408 hospitalizations due to
                            influenza infection so far this season.
                             Influenza Related Deaths: There were 0 confirmed deaths due to influenza.
                            There have been 5 confirmed influenza-associated death as of 4/8/2016.
                             Viral Surveillance: Of the 689 specimens tested by Georgia clinical laboratories
                            reporting to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance
                            System (NREVSS) during week 13, 109 (15.82%) were positive for influenza.
                            Public Health Laboratories tested 27 specimens during week 13, 9 were positive
                            for influenza.
                             Reported Influenza Outbreaks: There were 0 outbreaks reported to public
                            health during week 13. There have been 3 influenza-related outbreaks so far
                            this season.
                             RSV Viral Surveillance: Of the 365 specimens tested and reported by the
                            Georgia Public Health Laboratory (GPHL) and the National Respiratory and Enteric
                            Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) collaborating laboratories during week 13, the
                            percent positive of ALL laboratory tests was 1.9%.

                              Synopsis
                              During week 15 there was low influenza activity in Georgia with sporadic
                              occurrences of sustained flu transmission.

                              visits for ILI was 2.19%, which is above the Georgia baseline of 1.6%.
                               Geographic Spread of Influenza: The geographic spread of influenza in
                              Georgia was SPORADIC during week 15.
                               Metro Area Hospitalizations: There were 10 hospitalizations due to influenza
                              infection during week 15. There have been 527 hospitalizations due to
                              influenza infection so far this season.
                               Influenza Related Deaths: There were 0 confirmed deaths due to influenza.
                              There have been 5 confirmed influenza-associated death as of 4/22/2016.
                               Viral Surveillance: Of the 600 specimens tested by Georgia clinical laboratories
                              reporting to the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance
                              System (NREVSS) during week 15, 56 (9.33%) were positive for influenza.
                              Public Health Laboratories tested 17 specimens during week 15, 6 were positive
                              for influenza.
