Swine Flu has affected 3.5 Million Across Florida, CDC Researchers Reveal

As has been revealed by the first ever state-wide estimate based strictly on federal figures, an estimated 3.5 million people across Florida have fallen prey to Swine Flu, including 560,000 people in South Florida.
Since the disease's outbreak began last spring, about 13 to 27% of Americans have contracted the H1N1 virus, with the best guess falling in at 18%, as has been revealed by researchers at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who shared their estimates on Friday.
This means that in Florida alone, 3.5 million people were affected.
The same CDC estimates have suggested that nearly 15,600 Florida residents have been hospitalized as a result of the flu, including 2,525 in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The new CDC estimates have come in at least 10 times higher than Florida's official figures.
"I wouldn't expect the outbreak in Florida to be very much different from the rest of the country. A lot of people got mild cases and were not even tested, let alone counted", said Dr. Claude "Earl" Fox, Director of Florida Public Health Institute.
