Two additional hospitalized influenza cases were reported during the week ending October 27th. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 10.
Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente has increased from 3.56% to 3.68%. This includes clinics in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
Sentinel hospital labs (20 of 23 reporting) tested 750 specimens and 3 (0.4%) were positive for influenza.
There have been 0 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.

First child flu death of the season reported in Colorado

DENVER ? The state of Colorado has reported the first child flu death of the 2018-2019 season.

The child died during the week ending January 12, according to the state Department of Public Health and Environment.

The death is associated with influenza A, H1N1, which the state reports is the predominate strain this season.
