    Summary for the Week Ending October 27, 2018

    Two additional hospitalized influenza cases were reported during the week ending October 27th. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 10.
    Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente has increased from 3.56% to 3.68%. This includes clinics in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
    Sentinel hospital labs (20 of 23 reporting) tested 750 specimens and 3 (0.4%) were positive for influenza.
    There have been 0 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
    No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

    4 additional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported during the week ending November 3, 2018. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 18.
    Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners has increased from 3.2% to 3.6%. This includes clinics in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
    Sentinel hospital labs (22 of 23 reporting) tested 1,004 specimens and 2 (0.2%) were positive for influenza.
    There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
    Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold but increased from 2.8% to 4.7%. This is below the national level of 5.4%.
    No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

      Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners has increased from 3.6% to 3.7%. This includes clinics in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
      Sentinel hospital labs (20 of 23 reporting) tested 1014 specimens and 11 (1.1%) were positive for influenza.
      There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
      Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and decreased from 4.5% to 3.1%. This is below the national level of 5.4%.
      No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

        5 additional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported during the week ending November 17, 2018. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 29.
        Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners has increased from 3.7% to 4.0%. This includes clinics in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
        Sentinel hospital labs (21 of 23 reporting) tested 955 specimens and 17 (1.8%) were positive for influenza.
        There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
        Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and increased from 3.1% to 4.4%. This is below the national level of 5.4%.
        No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

          Influenza-like illness patient visits reported by outpatient clinics has remained the same as last week and is currently at 4.0%. This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
          Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 1.28% to 1.49%.
          Sentinel hospital labs (20 of 23 reporting) tested 1,020 specimens and 28 (2.7%) were positive for influenza.
          There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
          Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and decreased from 4.9% to 4.3%. This is below the national level of 5.6%.
          No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

            The geographic spread of influenza activity in the state of Colorado is local.
            12 additional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported during the week ending December 1, 2018. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 57.
            Influenza-like illness patient visits reported by outpatient clinics has increased from 4.0% to 4.5%. This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
            Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 1.49% to 2.06%. This is the first week of the season it has surpassed the seasonal baseline level.
            Sentinel hospital labs (21 of 23 reporting) tested 1,245 specimens and 38 (3.1%) were positive for influenza.
            There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
            Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and increased from 4.3% to 4.7%. This is below the national level of 5.8%.
            No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

              Influenza-like illness patient visits reported by outpatient clinics has increased from 4.5% to 4.9%. This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
              Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 2.06% to 2.37%. This is above the seasonal baseline level of 1.78%.
              Sentinel hospital labs (21 of 23 reporting) tested 1,091 specimens and 58 (5.3%) were positive for influenza.
              There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
              Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and decreased from 4.7% to 4.4%. This is below the national level of 5.7%.
              No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

                61 additional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported during the week ending December 15, 2018. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 205.
                Influenza-like illness patient visits reported by outpatient clinics has increased from 4.9% to 5.6%. This is the first week of the season it surpassed the baseline level of 5.05%. This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
                Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 2.37% to 4.16%. This is above the seasonal baseline level of 1.78%.
                Sentinel hospital labs (21 of 23 reporting) tested 1,516 specimens and 192 (12.7%) were positive for influenza.
                There has been 1 outbreak associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
                Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and increased from 4.4% to 4.6%. This is below the national level of 6.0%.
                No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

                  Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 4.16% to 5.0%. This is above the seasonal baseline level of 1.78%.
                  Sentinel hospital labs (17 of 23 reporting) tested 1,528 specimens and 263 (17.2%) were positive for influenza.
                  There have been 2 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
                  Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and decreased from 4.9% to 3.7%. This is below the national level of 6.0%.

This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
                    Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area increased from 5.01% to 7.01%. This is above the seasonal baseline level of 1.78%.
                    Sentinel hospital labs (21 of 23 reporting) tested 3,119 specimens and 652 (20.9%) were positive for influenza.
                    There have been 8 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
                    Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado is below the U.S epidemic threshold and increased from 4.6% to 6.1%. This is below the national level of 6.1%.

                      198 additional influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported during the week ending January 5, 2018. The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the 2018-19 season is now 962. A previous error in the calculation of rates by age group has been corrected. The highest hospitalization rate is among 0-4 year olds.
                      Influenza-like illness patient visits reported by outpatient clinics has decreased from 7.9% to 6.3%. This is above the baseline level of 5.05%. This includes data from Kaiser Permanente and Primary Care Partners clinics located in the North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South and South Central regions of the state.
                      Syndromic surveillance of influenza-like illness patient visits in emergency departments in the Denver-metro area decreased from 7.01% to 5.64%. This is above the seasonal baseline level of 1.78%.
                      Sentinel hospital labs (22 of 23 reporting) tested 3,257 specimens and 547 (16.8%) were positive for influenza.
                      There have been 11 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
                      Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado for the week ending December 15th was at 6.1%. This is below the U.S epidemic threshold and below the national level of 6.1%. Due to reporting delays, data for December 16- January 5th is unavailable.
                      No influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported thus far.

                              There have been 18 outbreaks associated with influenza reported for the 2018-19 influenza season.
                              Mortality due to pneumonia and influenza in Colorado for the week ending January 12th was at 8.0%. This is higher than the previous week and higher the national level of 7.2%.
                              One pediatric death associated with influenza was reported for the 2018-19 influenza season. This was associated with influenza A, H1N1 and occurred during the week ending January 12, 2019.
