Synopsis: For the week ending December 27th, influenza activity remained high.
 There were 399 additional hospitalizations reported during the most recent week (compared
to 337 the previous week). Of these reported cases, 174 were from the previous week (week
ending 12/20) and 225 were from the most recent week. As of the week ending 12/27, the
states cumulative total is 1293 hospitalizations from 40 counties.
 Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder metropolitan
area increased from 5.6% to 6.2%. Influenza-like illness reported by Mesa County increased
to 2.7% (compared to 1.6% the previous week).
 There were 18 additional outbreaks reported during the most recent week, 4 with an onset
date during the previous week (week ending 12/20) and 14 with an onset date during the
most recent week. The total number of outbreaks reported in long term care facilities is
now at 68.
 The second influenza-associated pediatric death for the 2014/15 season was reported.

Synopsis: For the week ending January 3rd, influenza activity remained elevated. However,
several surveillance tools indicate the 2014/2015 season may have peaked during the week ending
12/27 and has started a slow decline.
 There were 605 additional hospitalizations reported during the most recent week (compared
to 399 the previous week). Of these reported cases, 326 were from the previous weeks
(weeks ending 12/20 and 12/27) and 279 were from the most recent week. As of the week
ending 1/3, the states cumulative total is 1903 hospitalizations from 50 counties.
 Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder metropolitan
area decreased from 6.2% to 4.8%. Influenza-like illness reported by Mesa County increased
to 4.7% (compared to 2.7% the previous week).
 There were 14 additional outbreaks reported during the most recent week, 9 with an onset
date during the previous week (week ending 12/27) and 5 with an onset date during the
most recent week. The total number of outbreaks reported in long term care facilities is
now at 82.
 No additional pediatric deaths were reported during the most recent week. Two influenzaassociated
pediatric deaths have been reported during the 2014/15 season; one during the
week ending 12/13 and one during the week ending 12/27.

Synopsis: For the week ending January 17 th , influenza activity decreased. The 2014/15 influenza season peaked during the week ending 12/27.
 There were 178 additional hospitalizations reported during the most recent week (compared to 391 the previous week). Hospitalizations data peaked during the week ending 12/27 with 570 hospitalizations reported. This is the highest number of hospitalizations reported during a single week since hospitalizations became a reportable condition (04/05 season), including the 2009-10 pandemic when 355 hospitalizations were reported.
 As of the week ending 1/17, the states cumulative total is 2504 hospitalizations from 55 counties. This number exceeds the 2157 hospitalizations reporting during the 2009-10 pandemic and is the highest number of hospitalizations reported during a season since hospitalizations became a reportable condition (04/05 season).
 Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder metropolitan area decreased to 2.6%. Influenza-like illness reported by Mesa County decreased to 2.8%. Kaiser ILI had a distinct peak of 6.2% during the week ending 12/27. Mesa County ILI peaked during the week ending 1/3 at 4.7%.
 There were 4 additional outbreaks reported during the most recent week. The total number of outbreaks reported in long term care facilities is now at 98. This is the highest number of outbreaks reported during a season since outbreaks became reportable (04/05).
 No additional pediatric deaths were reported during the most recent week. Two influenza associated pediatric deaths have been reported during the 2014/15 season; one during the week ending 12/13 and one during the week ending 12/27.

Synopsis: For the week ending February 7, influenza activity was low. Influenza B viruses increased
when compared to previous weeks, but remain at low levels.
 There were 62 additional hospitalizations reported during the most recent week (25 from the
previous weeks and 37 from the most recent week). Hospitalizations data peaked during the
week ending 12/27 with 578 hospitalizations reported. This is the highest number of
hospitalizations reported during a single week since hospitalizations became a reportable
condition (04/05 season), including the 2009-10 pandemic when 355 hospitalizations were
reported.
 As of the week ending 2/07, the states cumulative total is 2747 hospitalizations from 57
counties. This number far exceeds the 2157 hospitalizations reporting during the 2009-10
pandemic and is the highest number of hospitalizations reported during a season since
hospitalizations became a reportable condition (04/05 season).
 Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder metropolitan area
was 1.8%. Influenza-like illness reported by Mesa County was 2.5%. Kaiser ILI had a distinct peak
of 6.2% during the week ending 12/27. Mesa County ILI peaked during the week ending 1/3 at
4.7%.
 There have been 108 influenza-associated outbreaks reported in Long Term Care Facilities during
the 2014-15 season. This is the highest number of outbreaks reported during a season since
outbreaks became reportable (04/05).
 There have been three influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported during the 2014/15
season. No additional pediatric deaths were reported during the most recent week.

Colorado flu-related hospitalizations hit a record high this season

Flu season is far from over, but this one is already a record breaker, according to the state health department.

As of Feb. 7, Colorado hospitals had reported 2,747 cases in 57 counties ? the greatest number of flu-related hospitalizations since reporting began in 2004-05.

The state health department says the number is greater than the 2,157 flu-related hospitalizations reported as of May in the 2009-10 swine flu (HIN1) pandemic.
