Synopsis: For the week ending December 27th, influenza activity remained high.
There were 399 additional hospitalizations reported during the most recent week (compared
to 337 the previous week). Of these reported cases, 174 were from the previous week (week
ending 12/20) and 225 were from the most recent week. As of the week ending 12/27, the
states cumulative total is 1293 hospitalizations from 40 counties.
Influenza-like illness reported by Kaiser Permanente for the Denver-Boulder metropolitan
area increased from 5.6% to 6.2%. Influenza-like illness reported by Mesa County increased
to 2.7% (compared to 1.6% the previous week).
There were 18 additional outbreaks reported during the most recent week, 4 with an onset
date during the previous week (week ending 12/20) and 14 with an onset date during the
most recent week. The total number of outbreaks reported in long term care facilities is
now at 68.
The second influenza-associated pediatric death for the 2014/15 season was reported.
