Fort Smith woman fights for life after getting flu, losing baby

FORT SMITH, Ark. (5NEWS) - A Fort Smith woman is fighting for her life in a St. Louis hospital after contracting the H1N1 virus and losing her unborn child.

Saturday, THV11's CBS affiliate in Northwest Arkansas 5NEWS spoke with the Leslie Creekmore's grieving husband.

She reportedly began feeling ill last Monday and within days had to be hospitalized.

Chris Creekmore says his wife did not get a flu vaccine this year.

A total of 4 sequences are on file from US Public Health sources to describe the entire state of Arkansas for the current season (s2013), the last season (s2012) and the inter-season (i2013).
      • Count 01 - 2013-December
      • Count 02 - 2013-November
      • Count 01 - 2013-October

The October s2013 sequence carries predictive genetics at the Hemagglutinin segment that are correlated to Fatality variation in Russia and were discussed in March 2013 as a Future State of pH1N1 upon analysis of SpainCatalonia5925S_29F_2013_02_05 [EPI427227]. The augmented PhyloGenetic tree first published at the Spain analytic demonstrates the complexity of branching and the diversity of contemporaneous circulation.

At the time of the Spain deposit, the most widespread Pandemic Influenza H1N1 clade was actively inheriting virulence factors from the most dangerous sub-clade (Upsilon with a minimum 5% Fatality Rate). That genetic acquisition cycle continues at this moment.

The Hemagglutinin and Neuraminidase segment genetics circulating in Arkansas today are directly related to avian-influenced island nation circulation such as StVincentAndGrenadines3292_C2C1_32M_2013_10_08 [EPI497714]. The NewMexico12_M1C1_60M_2013_09_06 [EPI482159] HA demonstrates that this Arkansas background has the ability to manifest the H5N1 polymorphism HA 187N in a mixture.

Additionally, two cases of variant H1N1, a new triple ReAssortment virus, were detected in Arkansas during September 2013. Those cases share a complement of Polymerase and internal gene segments with the current circulating pH1N1.

Statistically, can two seasons of Influenza in Arkansas be quantified by a sample population of 4?
