Influenza activity highlights:
* 308 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza were reported in the past week, from 12 counties. 9,573 cases have been reported this season, with laboratory-confirmed cases identified in 15 counties.
* 8,578 (89%) reports this season are influenza A, 835 (9%) are influenza B, and 160 (2%) are of unknown type.
* 27 (82%) of 33 specimens tested positive for influenza at ASPHL last week; 9 are influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 viruses and 18 influenza B viruses.
* Influenza-like illness activity at sentinel providers was below Arizona?s threshold in week 11.
* Influenza-like illness activity at sentinel schools decreased in the past week.
* One influenza-associated pediatric death has been reported for the 2013-2014 season in Yuma County. This case had underlying conditions and was PCR positive for influenza A (H1N1) pdm09.
