Tuscaloosa County flu cases keeping pharmacists busy

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBMA) β In West Alabama, drug store workers say their phones won't stop ringing as flu cases start to rise in the area.
The Alabama Department of Public Health reports the West-Central district currently leads the state in flu cases. One local doctor says it's been difficult calling in a newer flu medication to area pharmacies.
"In the Tuscaloosa area, we do see a shortage of Xofluza. Itβs a one single dose type of medicine and a lot of pharmacies have ran out," said Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty, Crimson Care.
Dr. Peramsetty says his patients request Xofluza as it's taken for one day compared to five days on other antiviral flu drugs. The problem is with a high number of flu cases in the region, demand for Xofluza is increasing...
