  • August 5, 2011: US CDC reports another human swine H3N2 infection

Comparing this to the previous week, this is one new infection.

    [snip]

The four cases of novel influenza A virus infection reported to CDC during 2010, and the two cases reported during 2011, were identified as swine influenza A (H3N2) virus and are unrelated to the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus

Thanks Alert. Do we have any further details on this?

Unfortunately, not yet. No sequence, no onset date, no exposure history, no location, no outcome yet.

In fact, it is not even fully clear that this H3N2 is trH3N2; all we know is that it is a swine H3N2 virus. It is likely trH3N2, IMO, because of previous cases, but I guess I jumped the gun a bit in calling it a trH3N2 case.
