RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A commercial turkey operation in North Carolina has tested positive for avian flu following a test by a veterinary lab, the first time the virus has been found in the state's poultry industry, officials said Wednesday.

The N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services said in a news release that the flock of 32,100 birds at the operation in Johnston County was killed and was being composted to guard against spread of the avian flu. The operation was not identified...

2 more turkey farms in Johnston County test positive for Avian Flu

Johnston County, N.C. — On Friday the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced two more commercial turkey operations in Johnston County have tested positive for High Path Avian Influenza.

The farms were identified after another nearby farm earlier this week euthanized 32,000 turkeys after a positive sample within the flock. A 6.2 mile test zone was established, leading to these new positive cases...
