    Final vote set for state budget

    RALEIGH -- State lawmakers are expected to give their final vote on the state budget Monday.

    Both the House and Senate approved the $20.7 billion budget over the weekend.


    By the end of the day, a budget could be headed to Gov. Mike Easley’s desk for approval.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Governor Easley will sign the $20 billion budget tomorrow now that lawmakers have given their final approval.
    The House approved the budget as part of a 2-year spending plan by a vote of 64 to 52, the second of 2 required votes on the budget. The Senate voted to approve the budget minutes later by a vote of 31 to 19.
