Blog Exercise For Pandemic Flu in SE Idaho

Would you be prepared if pandemic flu hit our area? The Southeastern District Health Department is helping you become prepared.
As of Monday, they're using a blog exercise to share information with the public, along with mock television newscasts. In this fake exercise, the pandemic flu becomes a global problem.
Historically, the 20th century has seen three pandemics of influenza. If something like this was to happen, the health care systems would be overloaded, which is why medical staff are also participating in this exercise to make sure they'd be ready.
They're hoping companies would use this exercise as a way to begin discussion about their own plans as well. The health department needs your involvement in this blog to help spread information.
"The key to all of this is comments to drive discussion. Our success is based upon people going there," said Darin Letzring, Southeastern District Health Department, All Hazards Planner.
