      • The USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Arkansas Livestock & Poultry Commission are conducting a comprehensive epidemiological investigation of this event.
      • Update as of July 10, 2013:
        • Enhanced surveillance is being conducted on all flocks within a 10 km (6.2 mile) zone and on all flocks epidemiologically linked to the affected premises. The following premises have been identified in the surveillance zone:
          • Twenty-nine (29) commercial poultry facilities have been identified within the zone. Of the 29, only seventeen (17)currently have poultry on the premises o Fifty-one (51) back yard flocks have been identified in the surveillance zone with none of them having any epidemiological link to the index premises. Three premises were identified to be outside the surveillance zone and not re-tested on the 2nd round of testing.
          • Three (3) high risk epidemiologically linked premises identified. One of the facilities harvested birds earlier and birds were confirmed negative for AI on routine testing for AI prior to moving to slaughter. There are currently no birds on the facility.
        • The first and second round of testing of all poultry in the surveillance zone and epidemiologically linked premises has been completed. All laboratory testing yielded negative results for avian influenza.
        • The affected flock has been depopulated and cleaning and disinfection (C&D) of the premises has been initiated.
        • Note by the OIE Animal Health Information Department:
          • H5 and H7 avian influenza in its low pathogenic form in poultry is a notifiable disease as per Chapter 10.4. on avian influenza of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (2012).
