    Denver Health Patient Isolated & Tested For Ebola

    DENVER (CBS4) – Denver Health officials announced Sunday afternoon they have a patient in isolation who could possibly have Ebola.

    They say the patient is in fair condition, and Ebola is being considered as a potential, but unlikely diagnosis.

    Denver Health is on normal operations and there is no threat or concern for patient, staff or visitor safety.

      DENVER (CBS4) – Denver Health officials announced Sunday afternoon they have a patient in isolation who could possibly have Ebola. They say the man recently traveled to the Congo and returned to the United States a couple of days ago.

      He became very sick Sunday morning, according to health officials. Then he was brought to the hospital from his home.

      They say the patient is in fair condition, and Ebola is being considered as a potential, but unlikely diagnosis. Officials say the region where the patient visited hasn’t had an Ebola case for more than 45 days.

        This suggests to me that he did in fact visit the region in the DRC where the most recent Ebola outbreak was, as any other location in the country would have gone a lot more than 45 days several years, at least) since reporting an Ebola case, or have never reported one at all.

          DENVER -- A patient thought to possibly have contracted Ebola tested negative for the virus Sunday evening, according to officials with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

          This was the second test of the day that returned a negative result.

          Price said that the patient was in the Congo recently, where the outbreak was declared over but the patient had treated others and handled dead bodies during his time there.

          So far the hospital's lab tests have come back negative but a final determination will be made by the state health department.

          Three people who had contact with the patient are in isolation and a vehicle that transported the patient has been quarantined.
