A woman who has recently been to an Ebola-affected country is under evaluation after she reported concerning symptoms to nurses at Columbus Public Health, agency spokesman Jose Rodriguez said today.
    ...
Rodriguez said his department became aware of the woman?s symptoms about noon today and notified other city officials per protocol for Ebola and other highly infectious diseases...
    ...
Rodriguez did not have immediate information on where the woman had traveled or how long she had been in the United States following that travel. He did not know her age. She is one of 36 travelers currently under daily monitoring by the city.

As of early this evening, the woman was under evaluation and no decision had been made on testing her for Ebola, Rodriguez said. Test results take six to eight hours, he said.

Doctors at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center will continue on Wednesday to monitor a woman who recently was in an Ebola-stricken west African country and reported feeling ill on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday night, officials believed that the woman?s illness was caused by something other than Ebola, though the diagnosis was considered to be tentative, said Columbus Public Health spokesman Jose Rodriguez.
    ...
As of Tuesday night, there were no plans to test the woman for Ebola, Rodriguez said.

Hospital leaders and city, state and federal officials were in communication to determine how best to proceed.

Officials from OhioHealth said they couldn?t answer questions about care of the woman at Grant.

Health officials have ruled out Ebola after a Columbus woman who?d recently visited West Africa reported concerning symptoms, including a fever, on Tuesday.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was midway through 21 days of required daily monitoring when she told Columbus Public Health nurses she didn?t feel well, spokesman Jose Rodriguez said.
      ...
Rodriguez said the woman was still hospitalized this morning but no longer under evaluation for the deadly viral illness...

...the woman?s illness had another explanation, though they would not share her diagnosis, Rodriguez said.
