thanks so much Jim and Thebes! Jim I have found other lists that have also double-counted fatalities. It's easy to do, I don't doubt we've done it ourselves at one point or another.

okay...

the 44 year old woman who was reported as Santa Clara County's first death is a press release on one of the previous mystery listings from CA DPH, check post #152, she's listed as CA #24. So that press release doesn't change the total for California but I added her info to the details list

The 2 new Alameda County deaths DO change the total of California to 28.

also it looks like the latest death in Florida was a Pennsylvania tourist, and now the death is officially being listed as Pennsylvania death, even though the girl got sick and died while vacationing in Florida. This disagrees with earlier state protocols, since Nevada claimed a New York tourist who died there as a NV death, and Texas claimed the Mexican resident who died there as a TX death.

If the states don't want to be consistent with each other, that's fine, but I've got to keep some kind of coherent logic going in our own list. So far our listings have been trying to reflect the place of infection, so personally I think she should stay as a Florida fatality. But what do you guys think? If I do it that way our numbers are not going to agree with the state counts anymore, if they ever did, and it'll get even more confusing.

I think that the Nevada/Utah/CA death should be listed as CA. The headline in the news report says 'California man' and that is what they did for yesterday's PA visitor to Fla --accounted for the death via the young girl's homestate of PA. (Does that set a precedent for how to document these cases?) So, I am listing this as a CA death in my EHP tracking. -k

For the California man hospitalized in Nevada who died in Utah.... I can't imagine why they would start switching fatalities to state of residency, that wasn't how it's been done up to this point.

it makes more sense to me, if they want to change the rules now, to go back and relist all the deaths. But I don't think that's being done, so then the statistics become essentially meaningless. However you guys want the FluTrackers list organized is cool with me, maybe it doesn't really matter at this point.
