CNN — President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday and is experiencing mild symptoms, according to the White House.

Biden, 81, tested positive following his first event in Las Vegas, where he was expected to later speak at the UnidosUS annual conference. The president’s doctor said Biden has received his first dose of Paxlovid, and will be self-isolating at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in line with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.

“The President presented this afternoon with upper respiratory symptoms, to include rhinorhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, with general mailaise,” a note from Biden’s doctor provided by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “He felt okay for his first event of the day, but given that he was not feeling better, point of care testing for COVID-19 was conducted, and the results were positive for the COVID-19 virus.” ...

Statement from Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre

    BRIEFING ROOM STATEMENTS AND RELEASES

Earlier today following his first event in Las Vegas, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is vaccinated and boosted and he is experiencing mild symptoms. He will be returning to Delaware where he will self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. The White House will provide regular updates on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation.

    Note from the President’s Doctor:

The President presented this afternoon with upper respiratory symptoms, to include rhinorhea (runny nose) and non-productive cough, with general mailaise. He felt okay for his first event of the day, but given that he was not feeling better, point of care testing for COVID-19 was conducted, and the results were positive for the COVID-19 virus. Given this, the President will be self-isolating in accordance with CDC guidance for symptomatic individuals. PCR confirmation testing will be pending. His symptoms remain mild, his respiratory rate is normal at 16, his temperature is normal at 97.8 and his pulse oximetry is normal at 97%. The President has received his first dose of Paxlovid. He will be self-isolating at his home in Rehoboth.

      MEMORANDUM FOR: KARINE JEAN-PIERRE
      ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND
      WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY

      FROM: KEVIN C. O'CONNOR, D.O., FAAFP
      PHYSICIAN TO THE PRESIDENT

      SUBJECT: President Biden COVID Update

President Biden completed his fourth dose of P AXLOVID this morning. His loose, nonproductive
cough and hoarseness continue to be his primary symptoms, but they have improved meaningfully
from yesterday. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal.
His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing yesterday was confirmatory for SARS-Co V -2
(COVID-19). Variant identification is still pending. All of his bloodwork was normal. Complete
Blood Count (CBC) was normal, demonstrating no anemia or evidence of bacterial infection.
Similarly, his Comprehensive Metabolic Panel demonstrated normal electrolytes as well as good
      kidney and liver function.

The President continues to tolerate treatment well. We will continue PAXLOVID as planned. In the
meantime, the President continues to do the work of the American people.

As promised, I will keep your office updated with any changes in his condition or treatment plan.

      Respectfully submitted,

      FROM: KEVIN C. O'CONNOR, D.O., FAAFP
      PHYSICIAN TO THE PRESIDENT

      SUBJECT: President Biden COVID Update

President Biden completed his sixth dose of P AXLOVID this morning. He is still experiencing a
loose, nonproductive cough and hoarseness, but his symptoms continue to improve steadily. His
pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen
saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.

Genomic sequencing has determined that the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) variant which the President
has encountered is the KP .2.3 variant. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), the KP .2.3 variant accounts for approximately 33.3% of new infections in the United
      States.

The President continues to tolerate treatment well and will continue PAXLOVID as planned. He
continues to perform all of his presidential duties.

I will continue to keep your office updated with any changes in his condition or treatment plan.

      WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY

      FROM: KEVIN C. O'CONNOR, D.O., FAAFP
      PHYSICIAN TO THE PRESIDENT

      SUBJECT: President Biden COVID Update

President Biden completed his eighth dose of PAXLOVID this morning. His symptoms have
improved significantly. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely
normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.

      In yesterday's update, I incorrectly stated that the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) KP.2.3 variant
accounted for approximately 33.3% of new cases in the United States. The correct percentage is
      approximately 12.8%.

The President continues to tolerate treatment without any difficulty and will continue PAXLOVID as
planned. He continues to perform all of his presidential duties.

I will continue to keep your office updated with any changes in his condition or treatment plan.
