This is MUCH WORSE than I had imagined. An entire plane was exposed. He was symptomatic. If it is spreading person to person we are in trouble.

I have sent an email to her asking for details:

    Hi Dr. Tiffany!

We are requesting a clarification about your reports of a human avian flu case in Houston.
    Which strain is this?
What is your source since you are located in another state?
Is this case confirmed test positive?
Which hospital is this case in?

    Thank you!

It is H5N1, confirmed by genetic sequencing.

Nothing on the Houston department of health site link

Possibly they are waiting for confirmation testing from the CDC in Atlanta. That would be protocol....

I am sorry but she also posts on a planned genocide on LHBTQ+ people which significantly decreases credibility in my book.

Thanks Toaster2. I guess we will shortly find out if she is correct or not. It might be a total lie, wrong strain (H5N6?), or other wrong details. This is why I did not post this item in the news forums but posted it here in the discussion forum.

One function we have on FT is to debunk rumors. This claim is widely circulating.

We need to be able to trust our medical licensees in the US for correct raw data. If she is misrepresenting....well.....not good.

Indeed. I see how much interest this gets on social media, where people take a lot for granted without critical thinking. If there is real confirmation I will ve the first to apologize, but now I wanted to indicate that I am not convinced by the claim made.

I called the Houston Health Department at:

                  Houston Health Department (HHD)
8000 North Stadium Drive, Houston TX 77054
                  Phone: 832.393.5169

                  I spoke to Tucker Wilson.

She gave me permission to quote her: "We are aware of the rumors that are circulating but we do not have any confirmation (about such a case)."

Interesting....BNO does not quote anyone with a name and contact number. I have no idea who BNO peeps are.

Houston Health Department says no bird flu cases have been reported. This follows a false claim on social media that a traveler had tested positive for H5N1.

I called the CDC media department at (404) 639-3286 and someone is supposed to be sending me an email with a response to my inquiry.

Dr. Tiffany responded via email and has offered a phone call. I never post responding emails without permission and speaking to me is 100% confidential.

Thank you to Dr. Tiffany for responding. I think at this point we have a general idea of what you are saying and now we need some official confirmation.

The@HoustonHealth Department as of right now doesn’t have any reports of an avian flu case. Our staff checked with all local hospitals and none report an avian flu case.

The Texas State Department of Health office located in Houston is not answering their phone. It rings and then hangs up with no opportunity to leave a message.

I'm sure they get hundreds of phone calls a day, especially when a health-related hoax is created against their city/state.

Amazingly without leaving a message a person called me. I asked them to confirm or deny the existence of an H5N1 avian flu human patient in the Houston area and they are going get their supervisor involved and call me back.
