Chaos at TCF Center as crowds of election challengers shout 'Stop the vote'

November 04, 2020 04:27 PM UPDATED AN HOUR AGO
      ANNALISE FRANK

Security officials and several Detroit police officers outside TCF Center in downtown Detroit have halted election challengers from entering the building where absentee ballots are being counted Wednesday afternoon.

... The Trump campaign has said it is calling for a temporary halt in the counting until it is given "meaningful access" in numerous locations and allowed to review ballots that already have been opened and processed...

As of this minute the counting is not over. Either presidential candidate could win. Most states have a verification process that can take another week approximately.

Police deployed as tensions run high at Maricopa County, Arizona ballot-counting office (VIDEO) — DHT USA News

          nov 5, 2020

Police are facing off with protesters that have gathered outside the elections department in Maricopa County, Arizona, as the country waits for the state to finish counting ballots. Joe Biden holds a narrow lead there.

Video shows sheriff’s deputies in tactical gear guarding the building housing the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC), which is currently tabulating the remaining uncounted ballots in the close presidential contest. Outside, more than 100 pro-Trump demonstrators were seen waving flags, signs and shouting slogans.

Media reports emerged that the office would shut its doors to the public and media due to safety concerns stemming from the demonstrators. However, a spokesperson for the elections department has said that counting will continue and that they will release new results shortly.

Saint Andre Bessette Church in Portland was ravaged by rioters this week amidst election delays. The church is said to regularly provide meals and other supplies for the homeless in the area, and were forced to shut down services because of the violence and destruction.

According to KOIN news in Portland, staff at the church had to “suspend worship services and their outreach programs for the homeless” after someone smashed multiple windows during rioting earlier this week.

Surveillance footage shows rioters wearing black clothing descend on the church and begin attacking it:
Surveillance video shows a crowd of protesters, all wearing black, march past Saint Andre Bessette Church on West Burnside Street when one person rushes up to a door and repeatedly hits the glass with what appears to be a hammer. A homeless person sleeping on the doorstep hurries away as the glass shatters.

Father Tom Gaughan spoke with local reporters about how they had to stop helping the homeless because of the violence:
Father Tom Gaughan said Thursday that the church had been able to continue its outreach services to the homeless throughout the summer by putting modifications in place that align with COVID-19 restrictions. They handed out brown bag lunches and drinks, hygiene kits and grocery bags. But the acts of vandalism during Wednesday night’s demonstrations have changed things.

“The building is compromised because of this so unfortunately the actions of this one individual has forced us to cease our outreach and its hundreds of people we normally give food to, we are not able to because I don’t feel like my staff is safe,” Gaughan said....

I think the news of this action is being blocked on main stream media and this morning I can not find this group on facebook. It had 72k members. It appears to be true and if this information is being blocked by 99% of media, facebook, etc. - this is a great disservice because after a four day strike by independent truckers, nationwide, we will have shortages.

I am not taking a position on this strike but it is the best interest of public safety for the general population to know about the plan for it.

                  snip

Rewoldt says the group is opposed to actions that impede traffic.

“I am 100% against blocking or slowing traffic,” he said. “I think those sorts of actions harm our image in the eyes of the public. It just makes us look worse.”

The group also opposes any interference with the shipment of medical supplies. “At this time, with COVID and everything, we can’t risk lives,” Rewoldt noted.

                  Job loss?

The coronavirus pandemic hurt many truck drivers who said they had to set aside their political beliefs to feed their families.

Some company drivers, who said they supported the group’s efforts, posted they asked their carriers to take Wednesday off but were told no.

“With the holidays coming up, I just can’t afford to lose my job,” one company driver told FreightWaves. “My wife lost her job because of COVID, so I am the only one working.”

Sharon, I found this article (below) which verifies food and supply shortages are beginning to affect our economy.
I will keep alert to any indication on disruptions that may affect medical supplies, as stated above: ?A potential disruption to supply chains - except medical supplies exempted from strike.

Walmart resumes counting customers in stores and grocers reinstate limits on toilet paper as coronavirus cases surge

                  Lauren Thomas

                  KEY POINTS
                  • Walmart beginning Saturday is resuming monitoring and counting the number of customers entering its stores, as Covid cases surge in the U.S.
                  • Dating back to April, Walmart has been restricting the number of people in its big-box stores to not exceed five customers per every roughly 1,000 square feet, or about 20% of a store’s capacity.
                  • For a period of time, however, the biggest retailer in the United States had stopped physically counting people as they came inside and left.
                  • Grocers like Kroger, Wegmans and Publix have also reinstated buying limits for items like toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
... The move comes as America continues to push new Covid records.

... Major grocery chains have now started reinstating purchasing limits on certain items, such as toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

... Kroger and Florida-based Publix Super Markets earlier this month reinstated buying limits on bath tissue and paper towels.

Giant Food, an American supermarket chain that operates locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, is again limiting purchases of toilet paper and paper towels.

Wegmans has placed limits on paper towels, household cleaners and disinfecting wipes.

Again - not taking any political position on this issue.

I watched parts of a news conference today and it appears the Trump campaign is continuing the effort to uncover and document possible massive voting fraud. I am NOT taking a position on this and FluTrackers is not political.

However, election turmoil is a general safety and public health threat, so stay aware of what is going on. You can find many items on the internet about this topic. I am not going to link any here because they are all biased on each side. Please find for yourself.

Again - not taking any political position on this issue.

Yesterday I watched some of the Arizona legislature hearing on possible voter and election fraud in that state. It is my opinion that some of the statistical data presented will raise doubts among people who are already inclined to believe that there was possible election fraud in the 2020 election. Even if 100% of the personal testimonies are not considered, some of the purely statistical data presented will inspire a call for more investigation by a significant percentage of our population.

At this point there are roughly 70 million voting public who are opposite sides of the election. This means that whatever the outcome, a significant percentage of the population will be not happy with the results. On one side approximately 70 million voters (Trump) will think the election was stolen by fraud. On the other side approximately 70 million voters (Biden) will think that the election was taken away from them.

                        Perception is reality.

This is a no win situation for social stability. Stay tuned to your local news for updates on happenings in your local area.

Again - I am not making any political statement but looking at possible public health and safety concerns around a disputed presidential election.

Again - not political but a heightened situation that will cause frustration on all sides.

Media reports that 17 states have joined Texas in a lawsuit filed at the Supreme Court alleging that 4 other states (Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin) were derelict in their obligation to operate a secure election and these 4 states have basically infringed on the voting rights of citizens in the 18 other states (Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia).

I have never seen anything like this.

With the expiration of the CDC housing mandate in 3 weeks, the election situation - no matter what side you are on - will serve as an additional stressor IMHO.

Just be careful out there. Be aware of your surroundings. Realize millions of people are on their last nerve. Back off on the little irritations. Everyone is just trying to get through the day.

I am so sorry this is happening to everyone. Please hang in there. Things will get better. It is going to be a little tough for a while.

Deep breathing. That "count to 10" idea is really good about now.
