People are sharing images of long lines, empty shelves at Costco amid COVID-19
Melissa Lopez Martinez Special to CTVNews.ca Published Sunday, March 1, 2020 3:15PM EST

TORONTO -- People appear to be lining up in droves at Costco stores across Canada and the U.S. as more cases of the novel coronavirus pop up across North America.

Many took to social media to share images of the crowded stores, including locations in B.C., where customers can be seen waiting in long lines both inside and outside Costco. David Chen tweeted on Sunday, “Costco at 9 am. #COVID19 fears spread. People stocking up worse than Christmas.”...

‘Lick the shrine’ videos in Iran go viral amid coronavirus fears
Yaghoub Fazeli, Al Arabiya English Sunday, 1 March 2020

Videos showing Iranians kissing and licking Shia shrines despite the risks of coronavirus have gone viral online, amid controversy over calls to close access to the shrines as the country continues to suffer from an outbreak of the deadly virus.

Iran has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the Middle East, many of them in Qom, home to several Shia shrines. While Saudi Arabia has suspended access to Mecca for pilgrims on Umrah, Iran has not responded to increasing calls to limit access to Qom to halt the spread of coronavirus.

“Stop scaring the people this much with coronavirus,” said a man filming himself at the Fatima Masumeh shrine in Qom in one of the videos...

I saw those videos and dreaded going to the supermarket here in the Puget Sound area. But there was plenty of healthy food, (and toilet paper - they sure were loading up on that in the videos). There were no lines BUT Purell was sold out! I got a bottle of 70% iso alcohol and that will do for car trips. And I did replenish the chocolate supply.

They don't seem sure why he's is down. It's possible for a seemingly young healthy person to get ill from this virus, but Dr. Fauci said there are always 'outliers.' Some could be genetic, some might be overworked and badly nourished, or exposed to environmental co-factors. The sanctions on Iran can't be helping.

This really appears to be eye witness testimony. Where is the line where we can call it news and post it on the cases and new section? Perhaps if it is non political, not emotional or sensationalist and not identifying anyone personally?

excerpt from Lancet published February 22, 2020

All three coronaviruses induce excessive and aberrant non-effective host immune responses that are associated with severe lung pathology, leading to death.

Similar to patients with SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, some patients with 2019-nCoV develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with characteristic pulmonary ground glass changes on imaging. In most moribund patients, 2019-nCoV infection is also associated with a cytokine storm, which is characterised by increased plasma concentrations of interleukins 2, 7, and 10, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor, interferon-γ-inducible protein 10, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha, and tumour necrosis factor α.

In those who survive intensive care, these aberrant and excessive immune responses lead to long-term lung damage and fibrosis, causing functional disability and reduced quality of life.

One nursing home could do that. I'm worried about the one in Kirkland, WA. Local news is very concerned. I posted about it in the Washington state thread.
