Some private hospitals are preventing medical staff from using special coverage to combat corona

Mohammad Sharifi-Moghaddam (Secretary-General of Nursing), speaking to Ilna, spoke about nurses' need for high safety equipment in hospitals due to the coronary heart disease virus. To be high.

"The dimensions of the corona virus are still unknown, but what is known is the longevity of the virus outside the human body," he said. If the virus cannot be disrupted by the transmission cycle, the virus will be transmitted. In this case, the desk, the bus, the money, the computer, etc. will be the cause of the transmission of the virus. This depends on people's awareness of the severity of the disease in the country and the transmission cycle of the disease. Nurses or health care staff also need to have adequate supplies as people who are closest and most likely to face this cycle.

Sharifi Moghadam, in answer to the question of what equipment does this high security or safety clothing include? He replied: The whole body of a person must be covered, meaning shoes, special clothing, hats, glasses, masks and gloves. Of course, nurses in areas such as Qom have the prevalence of this equipment, but our concern is in hospitals where the patient is suspected or carriers and their incidence has not been determined.

"The patient has a fever or flu symptoms, but no special action is taken until he is suspected," he said. This is the most important concern for us and the treatment staff until the diagnosis, as our nurse goes to the patient's bed without the necessary facilities.

Commenting on some of the private hospitals that do not want to use masks, Sharifi Moghadam said: Some private hospitals do not allow their staff to use clothing and cover because they are afraid, if the hospital is suspected, other patients will be referred. Diminish them.
Well this is the first time I have seen this sort of logic!

(Original title: 14,000 people died of influenza in the United States, and some of them were patients with new coronary pneumonia?)
[Text / Observer.net] Since yesterday, a news from Japan's Asahi TV has caused heated debate in the country.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a news report that of the more than 14,000 people who died of the flu in the United States in the quarter, some people were not sure of the type of influenza virus they had. According to the Asahi Shimbun, the facts show that some of the deaths caused by the flu in the United States are patients with new coronary pneumonia, and cities such as New York and Los Angeles have begun new detection methods.

But after verification by the Observer Network, the CDC did not release the exact news that some of the flu patients died in the United States due to new coronary pneumonia. The Asahi Shimbun over-interpreted the relevant content published by the CDC.

The Asahi Shimbun report on February 21 wrote that "the flu is still raging in the United States and has killed 14,000 people. In fact, many of them are infected with the new coronavirus."

The report also mentioned that 26 million people had been infected with the flu in the United States this quarter. "At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. Center for Infectious Diseases announced surprising news. When examining samples collected from patients suspected of having influenza, it was very Obviously, many patients are not suffering from the flu. "

However, after consulting the CDC's official website, it can be found that in the latest updated report of the CDC, the content of “many patients are not flu” is actually the flu virus type of some people in this quarter.

Many kids in United States are reliant on food programs (such as free or reduced lunches, weekend backpacks).According to Feeding America: "Twenty-two million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program...160 local food banks and then distributed to more than 450,000 children at the end of the week."

What happens if schools shut down for possibly a month or more, as they have in Vietnam, China, South Korea and Italy? Many have relied too heavily on society for basic needs.

Backpack programs provide families with free groceries for the weekends and school breaks. See if one of the 11,000 backpack programs in our network is near you.

                Hi!

As everyone knows we are all volunteers. As this outbreak is expanding, more and more of our participants will be affected. Yesterday as the situation worsened in Italy I had a conversation with tetano. He posts using a moniker but he publicly revealed himself to be a full time pediatrician in Northern Italy. He has been participating here for over 10 years and is the major contributor to our scientific library. He is published and an authority in his field.

Of course, he will be doing all that he can in Italy in this outbreak. As such, he will participating here as time allows. Other participants are covering for him. You will see this happen as our families and communities must take priority.

We will stay online. But you will see different participants come and go.

We wish tetano, his family, his patients, and everyone in Italy the very best.

In fact, everyone affected by this situation has our heartfelt sympathies. We have seen the videos and read the stories. We know there is a lot of suffering. Please take care.

We are all in this together.

I attended many national Pandemic Preparedness summits/meetings for potential H5N1/Bird Flu pandemic. THIS was a discussion that was had many times. What to do for the kids relying on these supplemental meals. I don't think there ever was a clear solution. Communities will have to somehow come together and help each other.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation Summary

                        Updated February 23, 2020

                        ...
                        Risk Assessment

Outbreaks of novel virus infections among people are always of public health concern. The risk from these outbreaks depends on characteristics of the virus, including how well it spreads between people, the severity of resulting illness, and the medical or other measures available to control the impact of the virus (for example, vaccine or treatment medications). The fact that this disease has caused illness, including illness resulting in death, and sustained person-to-person spread is concerning. These factors meet two of the criteria of a pandemic. As community spread is detected in more and more countries, the world moves closer toward meeting the third criteria, worldwide spread of the new virus.

The potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is high, both globally and to the United States.

But individual risk is dependent on exposure.
                        ...
However, it’s important to note that current global circumstances suggest it is likely that this virus will cause a pandemic. In that case, the risk assessment would be different.

                        What May Happen

More cases are likely to be identified in the coming days, including more cases in the United States. It’s also likely that person-to-person spread will continue to occur, including in the United States. Widespread transmission of COVID-19 in the United States would translate into large numbers of people needing medical care at the same time. Schools, childcare centers, workplaces, and other places for mass gatherings may experience more absenteeism. Public health and healthcare systems may become overloaded, with elevated rates of hospitalizations and deaths. Other critical infrastructure, such as law enforcement, emergency medical services, and transportation industry may also be affected. Health care providers and hospitals may be overwhelmed. At this time, there is no vaccine to protect against COVID-19 and no medications approved to treat it. Nonpharmaceutical interventions would be the most important response strategy.

                        ...

"Safety and security don't just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear."

In May 1997, a three-year-old boy developed what at first seemed like the common cold. When his symptoms—sore throat, fever, and cough—persisted for six days, he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. There his cough worsened, and he began gasping for air. Despite intensive care, the boy died.

Puzzled by his rapid deterioration, doctors sent a sample of the boy’s sputum to China’s Department of Health. But the standard testing protocol couldn’t fully identify the virus that had caused the disease. The chief virologist decided to ship some of the sample to colleagues in other countries...
